Moving out of the shadows, slowly gripping your soul, you feel the vibrations come through you. For a second, it’s singular. You familiarise yourself with it. Is it old or something completely new? Before you have the time to fully grasp its singularity, you are overtaken by new layers. That singular vibration is still there in the background, guiding you through. On your way, you pick up new experiences. They all blend together in chaotic harmony.
A strong emotion, an experience that can’t wait to become a memory. It creeps up unexpectedly before submerging you fully with waves of impressions you never thought could exist together so perfectly. That moment in time, that gripping emotion, is the spiritual ethos of Index_0, a new album by WULFFLUW XCIV.
“Experimental, raw, blending club rhythms with industrial and distorted soundscapes,” artist WULFFLUW XCIV describes his album.
The album is a strobe light in the darkness, changing, morphing, evoking feeling and daring movement. It’s a journey to be experienced and savoured. You move through the tracks one by one, witnessing them slowly build a reality where thoughts and feelings collide. There is love and excitement in these sounds, but there is also heaviness and a glooming tension that is only broken when two sounds that were previously alien to each other collide. The distorted echos of industrial soundscapes ground the music in reality, while the sharp yet gentle electronic melodies bring the multifaceted emotional fabric of the album to the surface.
The tracks slowly introduce the pivotal sounds before layering in more complexity, chaotically blending familiar with foreign and harmonious with distorted. Each track grips you with a rhythm that slowly reveals itself, introducing a new emotion.

“The main inspiration behind my work is the tension between fragility and transformation. I’m drawn to overlooked sounds — decaying environments, voices lost in noise, traditions on the edge of disappearance — and I use them as raw material to build something new, full of emotions and feelings mirroring and reflecting today’s life,” WULFFLUW XCIV shares.
The album motivates the listener to not only experience but explore. It shakes the senses, pushing them to look inward for past thoughts and outwards for new sensations. Index_0 evokes a reaction that is as much visual as it is auditory. The sounds disrupt your perception and seamlessly translate into a vivid image you can almost touch in your mind.

For WULFFLUW, XCIV Index_0 is deeply personal; it demonstrates the artist’s abilities and allows him to reflect on his life. What we got out of this reflection is a work that gives us glimpses into moments experienced by WULFFLUW XCIV. It gives the listener an opportunity to form their own impression and put together pieces. It also leaves room for interpretation, allowing listeners to find themselves in the album, connecting with it in a way only they can.
“Index_0 is a personal time capsule. It was born out of a period of displacement and uncertainty — a few intense years marked by war, distance, forced migration and emotional fragmentation.”
“The whole album came together naturally, almost like a personal diary. I didn’t approach it with a strict concept — instead, I focused on capturing moments and states of mind as they came.”
“The title Index_0 feels symbolic too. Like a reset, a blank slate. A moment to start from zero. And then there’s the physical format — the X-ray vinyls. They’re fragile but in a meaningful way. Like something that holds the trace of a beginning — a raw imprint of life.”
The intention to blend old and new echoes through every part of the album. Index_0 is released on X-Ray vinyl LP. By pressing his record on X-ray film, WULFFLUW XCIV juxtaposes the contemporary sounds of his album with an almost forgotten vinyl-cutting technique, bringing what was once considered lost back to life.

“I wanted the album to feel as much a part of its physical context as it does sonically.”
“X-ray vinyls are an almost forgotten technique, and there’s something beautiful about bringing that back, especially given the way the medium has a history tied to censorship and underground culture. It feels like a bridge between the past and present — the physical and the digital.”
“The process of using X-ray vinyl is quite rare. The specific type of film needed to cut it is no longer produced, so I spent a long time searching for a master who could still work with it. There are only a few people left who can handle this material,” WULFFLUW XCIV explains the beautifully complex process of creating his album.
What you get when you embark on the journey of Index_0 is up to you. Reflecting on the story behind the album, you will still find individual ways to appreciate the music with every new track. An experience of blended sounds, conflicting memories and complex emotions will leave a mark.
